We are a small farm in the South East of Sweden, growing mainly fruit and berries for manufacturing, but also some vegetables and other plants mainly for our own use. Besides tending the vegetables, plants and trees and other garden work, we produce and sell our own marmelade, jam, juice, jellies and other edibles in our farm shop. Everyting is small-scale and locally produced. In the autumn the main occupation is to pick apples to produce our own apple-juice. We who live here are Björn and Charlotte, and we also have three kids in their twenties. Animals on the farm are two dogs, six cats, some chickens and some sheep. Besides this we have a holiday house and an small apartment that we rent out for summer guests.
Malva Farm is located in an area well visited by tourists and during the summer months many come to enjoy hikes in the beautiful nature and fishing or canoing on lake Åsnen. There are a lot of protected wildlife in this region, specially birds due to the closeness to the large lake. Malva Farm is situated approximately 40 km south of Växjö and the same distace north of Karlshamn, two medium-sized cities that are well worth visiting.
We would like some help from WWOOF;ers during June-Oct and we assume that you stay for at least two weeks, or hopefully more. We expect 6 hours work, five days a week. Sometimes you may need to be a little flexible about the time, but it´s never more than 30 hours a week and with two days off. You will have your own living area with toilet and a small kitchen for making breakfast. Lunch and supper we usually all eat together. On your free time you may go swimming in the lake, use the canoe or a small boat and equipment for fishing. There are also lots of nice wildlife experiences, hiking or cykling, and the small village of Urshult is just 6km away.
