We are a certified Organic Farm that produces food for local consumption. We grow an abundance of vegetables and potatoes on 4 to 5 of our 50ha and on the rest, grains
of many heirloom varieties of wheat and rye for our bakery.
Our vegetables are mainly sold through subscription baskets commonly called CSA (community supported agriculture) locally (Björklinge and Uppsala).
Time scheme:
We can accept helpers for vegetable farming from March through December. During the winter months we accept helpers for baking.
Requirements:
A genuine interest in ecological vegetable growing and caring for the environment.
Accommodations:
We have simple accommodations (like workers cottage or student room) close to the
house.Access to toilet, shower, sauna, washing machine and computer. We have Wierless internet and computer access.
Languages:
We take helpers from all over the world and we speak fluent Swedish, English, French
and a little German as well.
The work:
We work together with growing the vegetables in the fields and in greenhouses .Work with planting, transplanting, weeding, tending plants, harvesting, packing, and selling them through the CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) system in Björklinge and Uppsala where we also deliver vegetables and bread to some stores.
Of grain we make bread and Swedish Rye Knäckebröd (hardtack) and can use help with baking. We do some building at times so skills or interest in carpentry is helpful as well.
Recreation:
There is a large lake 4 kilometres from here and we also have a small swimming hole on the farm in the river for cooling off in. There are lovely woods around here for walking in as well. We are 20 minutes bus trip from Uppsala and 1 hour from Stockhom
The food:
We prepare vegetarian food here as well as vegan and like a recipe exchange with the helpers here who sometimes have "kitchen duty" and can do the cooking.
Our interests:
Nutrition, herbs for healing and food, natural medicine and its related therapies, yoga and meditation. Ecology and enviornmental issues.
As a WWOOFER you take part in working with vegetables from planting to harvesting.
