Welcome to Den gamles gård
The farm is in a area with many small farmers. Nearest village is 5 km. I produce organic vegetables, garden plants and flowers that I sell on the local market.
Wwoofers are welcome from Febrary to October. Principal work is sewing, planting, harvesting and helping with selling in the market.
Wwoofers live in three small rooms on the attic ore in an old caravan and use all facilities off the house. In winter time there are a office-guest room for one wwoofer. I have no TV but computer with Internet. I like to practice German and France languish
I have normally between one and three Wwoofer at the same time and minimum stay is one week
WWOOF at Den Gamles Gård
My name is Antonia, I am 18 years old and come from Germany. I would like to tell you a bit about my time at Den Gamles Gård in spring.
I met Torbjörn at the main station in Lund three weeks ago and I must admit, that he looked had looked different in my imagination. But from the first moment he was very nice and I was comfortable.
The next day Torbjörn started to show me the farm and to introduce me to everything. Of course there was a lot to do! Beginning at about 8 o’clock, my tasks were to sow different kinds of plants, like peas, beans,… There were also a lot of plants which had to be repoted, because all they want is growing, growing, growing. So I could spent my days sitting in the sun, or, when it was too cold, working in the greenhouse.
My favourite work was to drive the tractor. So I had to prepare the field, where we planted out 1000 kg potatoes together. The big tractor was a challenge for bodybuilders!
The weekends (Friday and Saturday) we spent on the Mårtenstorget in Lund. Though we had to start early in the morning, the days were very nice! Meeting all the new people was great and I was astonished, how many Swedish people are speaking fluently German! I have made some new friends there and had wonderful moments, for example two girls giving a spontaneous concert for Torbjörn.
But of course I was not only working. I made a trip to Copenhagen, where you can make small sightseeing tour at one day. Then Torbjörn took me to the Skåne Djurpark, where you et the possibility to strike really “wild” elk. Afterwards we were visiting a perm culture forest through which a friend of Torbjörn guided us. The neighbourhood I was discovering by bike and a second time by skates, together with my host.
I must not forget to mention Garry, the dog. I was trying to train him to be a “toter Hund” (“dead dog”) so he understands German now as well as my pupil Torbjörn (the difference: he can also speak).
So I really had a great time here in Skåne at Den Gamles Gård and I am happy that I had the possibility to get to know Torbjörn, the farm and how he and the people around him are living.
Torbjörn at a host (and friend) is perfect and the work with the plants very interesting, I can really recommend it to everyone!

I met Torbjörn on the market selling pumpkins for Halloween and we’ve been friends ever since. This summer I decided to come and WWOOF for him. He’s a really cool person, quite punk, and I’ve had a great time working here. Me and the Canadian couple who also stayed here put up a greenhouse. We’ve done everything from planting seeds to driving the tractor and plowing the fields. Torbjörn gives instructions and then leaves us to work quite independently which works great. Lots of breaks and nice working pace.

My wife and I WWOOFed on Den Gamles gård in July of 2008. It was our first WWOOFing experience, and we are now full-fleged WWOOF advocates thanks to Törbjörn's great hospitality.
Törbjörn met us in Hörby on our first day, and after some small chores and shopping brought us to the farm and gave us a tour. The farm is bigger than I expected from the pictures on the site, but everything was well organized and we kept busy without being overwhelmed.
We had a large variety of jobs on the farm. On most days we sowed various vegetables and flowers, transfered plants into larger pots, or planted vegetables in the fields. On top of that, we had a couple of projects like repairing some bean poles and building a greenhouse. Törbjörn lets you work independently but is always around if you need help, and he always treats you like a friend rather than a worker. Working at the market can be nerve-wracking at first if you don't speak Swedish, but everyone is friendly and by the end of the day you're very comfortable and having a great time.
Overall, we had a great time and the three weeks we were here went by quickly.

I'm 21 from England. This is my first WWOOFing experience and it has been great. We have done a nice variety of tasks; Painting, pruning, planting, tractor driving and chicken chasing. Our leasure time is very relaxed and enjoyable. I would strongly recomend 'den gamles gård' to anybody considering WWOOFing in Sweden.
P.S. Sweden and its people are fantastic, and very welcoming.
