Welcome to Gillberga Njordstorp

We are a small family and live and work close to the beautiful Värmlands nature that surrounds us. We just started the farm, when we bought it in 2011 the house was rented out and the land was used for grass. Our family consists of two adults and one child (age of 8). On the farm lives also 2 cats and we have chickens, bees, rabbits and 2 pigs. We finished planting a orchard and started a vegetable garden. So a lot of projects needs to done and all extra help is welcome!
Our aim is to build a self sufficient farm, and at the same time to be a part of society and help to change it by example. To interact, and cooperate with the surrounding neighbours is an important part of building the community that we would like to see. The plan is to use the Permaculture ideas and design to setup the farm and get experiences with growing ecological.
We are a couple from Holland, consider ourselves as internationals. We speak Dutch, Swedish, English and a little German. We love nature, a simple lifestyle, good conversations, and most of all: getting things done. We try to avoid watches and clocks and follow our own rhythm.
We welcome, at this moment, 1 or 2 woofer(s) at a time in a stuga (is a cabin) you can use the shower, toilet and washing machine in our house and you have your own toilet close to the stuga. We prefer a minimal stay of one week, and longer if it works out well. We invite people who appreciate a simple, basic lifestyle, who like the calm and beautiful nature and want to do some practical work. You can help and learn from us how to operate a farm, grow ecological vegetables, keep stock, prepare the food we eat, (building)projects, paint, composting toilet and of course have fun.
You can use our bikes, go fishing, horseback riding, walks in the beautiful surrounding, go swimming (5km) and much more as pass-time activities. A little town is nearby (5 km) and has a café, supermarket and Viking museum. We have WIFI. And of course you can join us on our day trips.
As usual, woofers work 6 hours/day at 5 days per week (structure depending on weather, plans, tasks - summertime is time to work outside), we provide food, accommodation and heaps of work mostly.
