Welcome to Svegården

We have taken over an old family farm and want to develop its sleeping qualities in a responsible way.
The farm is situated on a hill with scenic views over grasslands, rivervalley , forests and snowy mountains at the horizon.

Some ambition/tasks for 2012

1.) FOREST
Making firewood, clear bush along roads, paths and buildings. Make some poles and fencing elements. Planting trees.
2.) BUILDINGS
Construction work and refurbish buildings with your skills/ambition to try carpentry, painting, plumbing, etc.
3.) FOOD
Housekeeping, baking, vegetable patch, seasonal harvest from the wild as berries, mushrooms, fishing and hunting.
4.) WATER
Improve well, grey water sewage, plumbing pipes, hotwater accumulator. hotwater stove, sunpanels etc. Some jobs by the river
5) ARTISTIC
Interact with your creativity; add your own exhibit.
Recycle/repair/make use of many old artifacts and materials.
6) CABIN
A cabin 2 km into the forest needs some rehab, fix the roof, chimeney, and refurnishing inside.
7 )FLEA MARKET BARN
Clear a barn and make spaces for things for sale and
or old curiosities / art etc.

Oh yes, To save time please make a comprehensive application with picture/s so we get a good feeling of your personality, skills and interests. We need selfpropelled wwoofers as we, the hosts, shuttle in and out of the farm.

Besides work we will enjoy midsummer feast, the lake, the river, the sauna, hot bathtub, have bbqs, try fishing or experience hunting. With bicycles or trekking on foot you can watch wildlife, cultural traces or just go and listen to nature /silence. Weekly trips to town for supply/events.

The farm is about 40 km from the city of Östersund, the provincial city. We have 4 km paved road to the store and the busstation in Häggenås which is normal pick up point.
