Välkommen till Sycklinge Farm

Sycklinge Farm is situated 8 km from the town Enköping, about one hour by train or car from Stockholm. The lake Mälaren, where you can swim in the summer, is only 2 km away. There are lovely woods around here for walking in or picking mushrooms or berries as well.

We grow vegetables, fruits, and herbs and our goal is to become self-sufficient on this. The organic farm is only in it´s 3rd year, so it is not very big yet, but planning to grow every year with bigger areas for growing vegetables and fruit, and expand our sheep herd. We do not using any pesticides. At the farm we also have some chicken and sheep, and 5 cows for meat and eggs for the family . We have a small greenhouse for plants in springtime and tomatoes and chili plants during the summer.
We need help the whole season (March - Okt). Wwoofers are expected to work about 30 hours a week divided on four or five workdays. You are expected to do some of the job (but not all of it) independently since we are not always at home, although you get instructions for what to do during work hours.

We work together with taking care of the animals, planting, transplanting, weeding, watering, harvesting, picking vegetables and fruit, mushrooms etc. we are planning for a farm shop opening during 2012, and some work needs to be done organizing for that, rebuilding etc., as well as other chores occurring on a farm. There is sometimes carpentry work to do (building chicken coops, renovating the buildings on the farm etc.), so knowledge in that area is always good.
The farm also holds conventional cereal farming, but that isn’t anything that the wwoofers will work with.

We usually prepare vegetarian food, sometimes meat and fish, since I, (Hannah) am a vegetarian but my husband Anders is not. Often we make the food together but sometimes you will make it yourself. You’ll have a guest room (maybe shared with other volonteers) and access to bathroom, washing machine and kitchen.

We speak Swedish, English and Icelandic.
We welcome 1 - 2 wwoofers at the time. You are welcome to stay one week (minimum stay) first and see if you like our place and if it works well. We need most help from april to september.

When e-mailing us please tell me something about yourself and about your motivation for WWOOF:ing.

If you can sing and play instruments we get extra happy :) Hannah want to learn how to play the guitarr, and I´m thinking of buying one very soon.

At the moment we especially look for persons with gardening and carpenting skills, but it is not a musst.
